WELCOME to Kimo’s Vegas ... the Player’s Edge!

The Ultimate Sports Resort is a $4 billion tribute to sports
The Ultimate Sports Resort is a $4 billion tribute to sports

HERE WE are - Super Bowl weekend! Over the years watching the commercials in the game has become almost as important as watching the game itself. The commercials are so popular that now you can wager on them and the game. The odds are based on what commercial will be voted the favorite in the Ad Meter poll. Anheuser-Busch is the favorite at 1/2 odds (bet $100 to win $50), Burger King (is it just me, or is the king kinda perverted looking?) is next at 9/2, Pepsi is 8/1, Career Builder 10/1, FedEx 12/1, Emerald Nuts and Subway 15/1.

ULTIMATE Sports Resort is a sports-themed mega-resort whose goal is to be one-of-a-kind. The $4 billion tribute to all things athletic will be built on 116 acres near the Las Vegas Motor Speedway and include indoor batting cages, a climate-controlled golf driving range, rock climbing, an ice rink, bowling alleys, billiards, a world class spa, 10 sports arenas, 500 condos, 5,500 rooms, 17,000 parking stalls, and a 150,000 square-foot casino.

NEW show times for the Volcano at the Mirage: It erupts at the top of every hour starting at 6 p.m. Wet Design, the company that made the Fountains of Bellagio, is working on making the Volcano boom louder and its blasts taller ... eh, no forget da offering for Madame Pele!

SHUFFLE up and Deal! The WPT adds the Mandalay Bay to its 17-stop tour. In Season V the WPT is expected to surpass a quarter billion dollars in prize money. The Mandalay Bay Poker Championship starts June 4. By the way, if someone invites you to play poker with MidWeek columnist and Sports Radio1420 morning guy Bobby Curran, save your money; go see a movie.

KIMO’S Vegas Tip: The only time it’s a good bet to have the taxi take the “Tunnel” from the airport is if you going auntie’s house, the Mandalay Bay, Luxor or the Silverton. The “Tunnel” will add 4 to 7 bucks to the fare ... cabbies like to say the “Tunnel” saves time, but it actually adds a few minutes to the trip. Get more Vegas tips at www.KimosVegas.com

CONGRATS to all the folks at the Boyd Gaming Corporation! Forbes Magazine has selected it as the best-managed hotel, restaurant and leisure company in America. To be chosen, a company must first make the Forbes Platinum list of the top 400 Best Big Companies in America and then have the best five-year annualized return.

GET MORE Kimo’s Vegas in the Wednesday MidWeek, in Oceanic Cable’s Around Hawaii and with Brickwood Galuteria Friday morning at 7:20 on Hawaiian105 KINE.
