MAMMA MIA! celebrates its third anniversary at the Mandalay Bay on Feb. 23. More than a million people have seen the Vegas show, and it is the longest-running and most-successful Broadway musical on the Strip. It’s one of those mixed emotion things… we’re happy the show is doing so well, and at the same time we are bumming that Kailua grad Jacquelyn Holland is being replaced by Carol Linnea Johnson.

IT’S NO secret that people need to show off their ability to waste money in Vegas by buying $10,000 tables or VIP rooms in the hottest clubs or ordering a $150,000 bottle of champagne. But did you know that Las Vegas is home to 20 percent of the world’s master sommeliers? What kind of job is that? You get paid to drink and buy wine (with other people’s money)!

THIS WEEK on Sports Radio 1420 AM we talk with Frank Mungolo about a new twist he created on Blackjack called Casino Surrender. Find out what it takes and what it’s like to have a game you created in a Las Vegas casino. Then Ira Sternberg, the head of PR and community relations, about the changes at the Las Vegas Hilton Thursday at 9 a.m.

SUPER BOWL XL is a thing of the past, but my favorite Super Bowl promotion goes to Miller Lite. NFL Hall of Famer Eric Dickerson showed up at the highest bidder’s house with enough food to feed the last 10 Kahuku High School football teams - now that’s what I call a Super Bowl party!

Santa convention

EVER wonder what Santa does after Christmas? Well, he chills at the fourth annual Naturally Santa convention this weekend at the Imperial Palace. On the agenda: stories about Christmas experiences, strategies on how to accommodate Jewish and disabled youngsters, and how to deal with adults who want to sit on Santa’s lap. I wonder if they’ll be singing Christmas songs at the Santa-oke? (It would be so wrong to hear them sing 99 Bottles of Beer ...)

OUR DEEPEST condolences to the family and friends of Gary Bautista. If you’ve ever seen the Society of Seven, then you know what a great talent he was. If you’ve ever spent time with him, then you know that he was a great person with great talent. The SOS is having a golf tournament to raise funds for his 9-year-old daughter Jewel. To request an entry form, fax 808-922-6955. Contributions can be sent to Friends of Jewel Bautista, c/o Outrigger Entertainment, 150 Kaiulani Ave., Honolulu, HI 96815.
