WELCOME to Kimo’s Vegas… The Players Edge!

Have you seen the newest quarter? It’s the 36th coin in the U.S. Mint’s 50 State Quarters program. In a vote, 32 percent of Nevadans chose the coin’s galloping horses design. No need to hoard them ‘cause the U.S. Mint will be making almost half a billion. (I just want a lucky one!)

More and more rumors each day that Radford High grad “The Divine Miss M” Bette Midler will soon have her own show, ala Celine and Elton. (Does this mean we’ll just call her Bette?)

8-Ballers, make your reservations and pack you chalk for the IPT North American Open 8-Ball Championship July 22-30 at the Venetian. There’s $2 million in prize money with $350K for first place.

Imperial Palace fans and employees are happy that the hotel is accepting room reservations through July 2007. No foget to see the IP’s Auto Collection! So the IP gets a reprieve from the demo man for another year.

In addition to having the best gaming, food and shopping, Las Vegas is rapidly becoming the home of the most (unusual) collections and museums. You’ve heard of the Neon Museum, the Clown Factory, the Elvis Museum, the automobile - and now there’s the Pinball Hall of Fame! If you remember life before video games (pre Pong) they have the largest collection of silver ball machines in the World. You can even play my favorite, the super rare Gottlieb “Vegas” machine… hey, buddy, got a quarter?

Car guys will want to check out the Shelby Car Show Feb. 25 at the Silverton. Some of the haps include a road rally, open track, dinner, chili cookoff, a car show on Fremont Street and a car show at the Shelby Car Museum.

New stores opening this year (with an Island tie) at the Desert Passage: ABC Stores and Crazy Shirts (I hear the shirts there are luckier than the ones here). They’ll be in the company of other local fave’s Todai and Wyland Galleries.

Get more Kimo’s Vegas in MidWeek the Weekend and with Brickwood Galuteria Friday morning at 7:20 am on Hawaiian105 KINE.
