Spring is here and that means new fabulous fashions! Pink C’s Spring Break fashion show at Skyline had some men acting like college kids on “Spring Break MTV.” Between the catcalls and pleas to “show me more baby,” I couldn’t help but wonder if these grown men had forgotten where they were. Maybe they thought they were down the street at Club Déjà Vu instead of on top the Sheraton Waikiki.

But the models took their verbal gawks in stride and strutted across the dance floor in Pink C’s latest fashions. The outfits were casual, cute, colorful and sexy. (Especially if the person wearing them weighs less than 120 pounds.) Models included Denby and Darah Dung, former Miss Hawaii contestant Kellie Peterson, isle newcomer Giselle Pineda and a few others.

Model Raena Cassidy at the
Pink C fashion show

Raena Cassidy may be the hottest new runway model on the island. She’s tall, slender and has incredibly long legs. She didn’t want to disclose her age, but the “sort-of-single” Aries did say her birthday is March 28. “I just don’t want to think about getting another year older,” she said. I wanted to tell her that life doesn’t get good until 30!

I caught up with Denby and Darah after the show. Miss Hawaii 2001 says she’s “a regular” shopper at Pink C and the owner asked her to model in the show. That’s how she ended up on the stage/runway. “I’m still with the Royal Hawaiian Band and teaching at Iolani.” She hopes to release her solo album later this year, which is being produced by David Choy. She’s also working closely with her own teacher Todd Yukumoto … Darah is heading to China in June for a 19-day “Good Will Tour” as the reigning Narcissus Queen. Between school (UH, speech major),working with the Kidney Foundation and countless Narcissus Queen appearances, Darah’s a busy woman! The former Miss Chinatown’s “spring break” was packed with events. Tuesday, she modeled designer Sue Wong’s spring line at Neiman Marcus and spent Friday at the Kahala Mandarin with the folks from JN Chevrolet (one of the Narcissus Quenn Pageant sponsors) … Go-go dancer Summer Jensen is back from L.A. and entertained guests with her moves to special guest DJ Mei-Lwun’s grooves. Summer had her hair in pink spiky ponytails, fishnets and itty-bitty bottoms bottoms … But at Formaggio’s Pinot Noir & Lingerie event, sexy ittybitty bottoms came in all shapes and sizes. These models ranged from tall to petite, skinny to voluptuous … and they all looked incredibly sexy!

Chenoa Salmon models lingerie for all shapes and sizes
at Formaggio’s Pinot Noir and Lingerie event

Business owner Chenoa Salmon (Chenoa Rox) wasn’t bashful about modeling. She sells fashion accessories and spa products, and just loves lingerie. These real women dressed in Lulu Lackey’s European imported lingerie. The customers seemed to like their realness because they bought outfits right off the models. Matt Walder and Chris Akin said they were just there to drink pinot noir. “No shopping for you?” I asked. “Nope, just enjoying some excellent pinot noir,” said Matt. But these two seemed to be the exception. Men and women hunted through clothing racks searching for that perfect special something. I admit, I couldn’t resist. I bought a two-piece negligee worn by model/nursing student Malia Thayer. Fishnets, jewel colors, pinks and flowing short shirts are all in this spring …

Coming up — fellow MidWeek columnist Joji Yoshida is holding an acting and casting workshop for those interested in careers in TV and film. Acting coach Wayne Ward will teach you how to prepare for auditions, practice and review cold readings, provide agency referrals and casting information for independent film projects and more. Sunday,April 3, noon-4 p.m. $60. Space is limited … Former casting assistant for NBC’s Hawaii Alan Arato teamed up with Yemen and Gloria Chung to bring “Make Me Laugh 4! Goes Westside” on April Fools Day. Even though Mel Cabang is headlining, organizers say it’s a family event. (Just kidding, Uncle Mel!) Cabang’s been doing comedy a long time. Now he’s the Caesar’s Cleaners spokesperson. David Copperfield once hired Uncle Mel to perform at one of his parties. Kaleo Pilanca, Elroy, Da Hawaiian Guy from Molokai, Stan Egi and Cathy Tanaka are performing … Spring is also scouting time for reality TV. NBC’s The Biggest Loser held auditions at Don Ho’s last week. Scouts are looking for families with children ages 13-22 (they must live with the parents) and engaged couples who want to shed pounds as a team. You can still mail in an audition tape, but the deadline is looming. E-mail Zena at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) by the end of the month for more information … And — a correction — one small typo shortchanged America’s first Yokozuma by a large amount in last week’s Ménage. Akebono (Hawaii-born Chad Rowan) is 6 feet 8 inches, not 5 feet 9 inches. Domo arigato gozaimasu to MidWeek’s former managing editor Bill Mossman for pointing that out to me.
