Mark Duda has been named president of the Hawaii Solar Energy Association (HSEA), Hawaii’s oldest solar industry group. He will work to encourage the adoption of clean, renewable solar energy, among other duties. Duda also serves as vice president of finance for Suntech Hawaii, where he manages the company’s interaction with the energy finance industry.

William L. Carpenter has been promoted from vice president to senior vice president of Private Client Asset Management for Bank of Hawaii. Carpenter will serve as co-manager of the department and will continue his duties as senior portfolio manager, which include managing some of the bank’s largest individual clients.

John Stasack has been promoted to vice president of the furniture division of Martin & MacArthur. In his new position, he will oversee the development and production of all furniture and will work collaboratively in the design of new furniture lines, among other duties. Stasack most recently served as manager of the furniture division.

Sandra Oakes-Arriola has been hired as controller for Bella Pietra, a natural stone company. With more than 26 years of accounting experience, Oakes-Arriola will be responsible for the company’s accounting practices, including purchasing, taxes, inventory and reporting. She previously served as controller for J Vineyards & Winery as well as accounting manager for Alderbrook Winery in California.

Julie Funasaki Yuen has been appointed public information officer for UH West Oahu’s Public Relations and Marketing Department. Her responsibilities include conducting media relations, special event planning, newsletter and print collateral development, among other duties. Funasaki Yuen has 10 years of marketing experience.

Valentino Valdez has been named graphic designer/staff photographer for UH-West Oahu’s Public Relations and Marketing Department. Prior to joining UH-West Oahu, he served as a senior graphic designer for MidWeek/Honolulu Star-Bulletin. Valdez will oversee graphic design layout, artwork procurement, budgeting and proofing design projects.

Sharon Hodson has been appointed vice president for Atlas Insurance Agency Inc.‘s Commercial Lines Division. Hodson’s responsibilities include managing the company’s independent agent workforce within the division. She has more than 30 years of experience in the insurance industry.

Joey Lee has been named manager of client care for ALTRES HR. She will oversee the client care department, which is responsible for transitioning and servicing new clients. As a previous account executive for Experian and a marketing coordinator for the Hawaii State Federal Credit Union, Lee has extensive background in business management, sales and marketing.
