Ka`eo Gouveia has been promoted to CEO and general manager for Ho`ala Landscape & Maintenance. Gouveia’s responsibili-ties include overseeing business operations, ensuring quality service for existing accounts while also creating a strategic growth plan for the company. Prior to accepting his new position, Gouveia served as general manager for Tiki’s Grill & Bar in Waikiki.

Kenneth Lou has been named project engineer for Suntech Hawaii’s residential division. Prior to joining the company, Lou worked as a mechanical engineering intern at Portland General Electric and as a research assistant at Portland State University Materials Science Lab. He now will manage solar installation projects.

Darlene Canto has been promoted from senior living counselor to director of marketing for Kahala Nui. Canto joined Kahala Nui seven years ago and is a 26-year veteran of sales and revenue management in hospitality. In her new position, she will develop and manage marketing communication plans, maintaining sales goals, advertising and event-planning efforts.

Don Ray has been hired as transparency correspondent for The Grassroot Institute of Hawaii. As a 30-year-veteran investigative reporter, producer, multimedia journalist, public records specialist and author, Ray will be responsible for monitoring and writing about waste, fraud and abuse in Hawaii state and local government.

Heather Schwarm has been appointed director of financial planning and analysis for American Savings Bank. Schwarm previously worked for General Electric, Citigroup and Wells Fargo Bank, and has 19 years of financial services experience.

Wesley Uemoto has been named president of King & Neel Inc. In his new position, he will be responsible for the overall operations of the company and will continue to handle insurance, risk-management and bonding programs for a number of contractor clients. He has been with the company since 1985.

Miranda Scott has been promoted to senior director-business development for Hawaiian Airlines. Scott will be in charge of creating new online business opportunities for the company on its website, while also generating revenue online through vacation packages and travel-oriented services. Prior to joining Hawaiian Airlines, Scott served as a market manager for Expedia.

Daryn Murai has been named senior living counselor for Kahala Nui. Murai previously was an elementary school teacher and will now provide tours of the community and inform prospective residents of the benefits of life care.

Allen Kubota has been hired as director of corporate real estate and strategic sourcing for American Savings Bank. Kubota has more than 20 years’ experience in the banking and real estate industry, and has worked as a consultant for clients such as Bank of America and Honfed Bank.
