Bruce Wetsel has been appointed chief operating officer for Island Air. Wetsel has worked previously with Mokulele Flight Service Inc., and Aloha, American, United and Midwest airlines, among others. In his new position, he will assume the shared responsibility of the company’s operations with CFO Lesley Kaneshiro.

Robert Seltmann Jr. has been promoted to port captain for Hawaiian Tug & Barge/Young Brothers Ltd. As port captain, Seltmann will manage the operations of the Young Brothers fleet of vessels and will be responsible for crew scheduling, vessel budgets and operational performance. He joined the company in 2006 as a tugboat master.

Trent Thoms has been hired as an associate for CB Richard Ellis’ brokerage team in Honolulu. Thoms specializes in industrial property, and previously worked for Colliers Monroe Friedlander selling and leasing industrial and residential property development.

Dr. Lisa Kahikina has been hired as pediatrician for the Waikiki Health Center. Kahikina completed her residency recently at the University of Hawaii Department of Pediatrics. She will divide her time between Waikiki Health Center, where she will provide pediatric care once a week, and Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children.

Michael MacDonald has been appointed harbor operations manager for Hawaiian Tug & Barge/Young Brothers Ltd. MacDonald joined the company in 2006 as manager of Marine Safety, Quality and Environmental Protection. He will now oversee daily operations of Hawaiian Tug & Barge’s tugboats and crews located in Honolulu and three Neighbor Island ports.

Dawn Sugihara has been promoted from associate to partner in the law firm Goodsill Anderson Quinn & Stifel LLP’s litigation group. Sugihara joined the firm in 2001 and has handled product liability, premises liability, medical malpractice claims and business disputes, among others.

Isabel Figel has been named assistant general manager for Corporate Office Centers, Honolulu Center. Figel will help develop brand recognition and strategic relationships with local businesses, associations and commercial real estate brokers. She also will assist the general manager in all aspects of sales, marketing and operations.
