Stacie Funai has been promoted by Bank of Hawaii from assistant vice president and product manager to vice president and product manager in the Business-Commercial Products Department. She is responsible for managing the bank’s business and commercial deposit products. Funai joined Bank of Hawaii in 2006 as a product manager in Consumer Deposits.
Gary Thompson has been appointed Central Pacific Bank’s newest vice president and senior private banking officer in its Private Banking Group. Thompson has more than 25 years of experience in the financial industry. In his new position, Thompson is responsible for managing, servicing and growing CPB’s portfolio of high-valued clients with their deposits, loans, investments, insurance and wealth planning needs. Thompson was previously with Bank of Hawaii (BOH) for 20 years, the last 10 as a vice president and wealth adviser in the Private Client Services Group. He also served as a branch manager, as well as positions in the consumer lending, personal banking and commercial banking areas at BOH.
Denise E. Konan has been named dean of the College of Social Sciences effective January 2012. Konan is currently a professor and chairwoman of the Department of Economics at UH-Manoa Konan started her career 18 years ago as an assistant professor in the Economics Department. She also served in senior executive positions as interim assistant vice chancellor for academic affairs and, subsequently, interim chancellor for UH Manoa. Konan is the founding director for the Center for Sustainable Coastal Tourism within UH Manoa’s Sea Grant program.
Kimberly Lord has been appointed managing director for Institutional Services for CB Richard Ellis. In this newly expanded role, Lord will oversee and facilitate the integration of services throughout the Hawaii region to meet the unique needs of property owners/investors.
Dominic Kaneakua has been promoted by American Carpet One from apprentice to journeyman. American Carpet One carpet and flooring installers go through an apprentice program working under a journeyman before becoming a carpet and flooring journeyman. Kaneakua has been a hard surface flooring apprentice for the past five years.
Craig Anderson has been named general manager for the Moana Surfrider, A Westin Resort & Spa. Anderson has served in the hospitality industry for the past 26 years, including as general manager of the Westin Maui Resort & Spa since 2002, and general manager of the Princeville Hotel on Kauai from 1999 to 2002. Before moving to Hawaii, Anderson was director of operations for the Westin La Paloma Resort in Tucson, Arizona, from 1997 to 1999.
