Carole Hayashino has been appointed by the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii board of directors to lead JCCH as its new president and executive director, effective Jan. 9, 2012. Hayashino currently serves as vice president for university advancement at California State University at Sacramento, where she oversees the external relations of the university including private giving, alumni relations, university marketing and publications. She also serves on the University Foundation at Sacramento State, Sacramento State Alumni Association and Capital Public Radio boards of directors.
Eric Tessem has been hired by dck pacific construction LLC, a dck worldwide company, as senior vice president and general manager, leading the Honolulu offices. Tessem has more than 30 years of experience in the construction industry. For 22 years, Tessem was president of Construction Associates Inc., which he founded, employing 165 employees with an annual revenue of more than $65 million. Since 2003, Tessem has been with Ledcor Construction, moving to Hawaii in 2005 as its vice president of operations.
Beryl Hamabata has been appointed training and procedures manager at Territorial Savings Bank. Hamabata has more than 38 years of banking experience and will be responsible for coordinating and implementation of bankwide training.
David Means has been promoted to director of rooms for Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort. Throughout his career in hospitality, Means has held various positions such as night auditor, rooms department manager and director of operations. He has worked at Wyndham Palm Springs Hotel, Two Bunch Palms Resort & Spa, Villa Royale Hotel and the Autry Resort in California. While in Hawaii, Means has served as front office manager and assistant director of front office operations at DoubleTree by Hilton Alana Waikiki Hotel.
