Kerry Kakazu, Ph.D. has been appointed chairman of the board of directors for Hawaii Academy of Science. Kakazu was previously special projects manager at the University of Hawai’i Cancer Center. He also has served as assistant director of operations at UH Cancer Center, director of academic computing at Chaminade University, and biology instructor at Honolulu Community College and Chaminade.

Kelly Botelho has been promoted to administrative manager of Coldwell Banker Pacific Properties, Waikiki office. Botelho will be responsible for general administration of the office and supporting the office’s senior vice president and sales associates. She joined CBP in 2005 as a listing specialist and most recently held the position of office administrator.

David W. Howle is now Wayland Baptist University’s executive director and campus dean of its Hawaii campus. Howle’s key responsibilities are all administration and educational programs, and community outreach for the new campus in Mililani and WBU’s six military sites throughout the island. Howle earned a Ph.D. in biblical studies from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary in 1993, the fifth degree he has earned from an academic institution, and has been employed by Wayland Baptist University for more than 16 years.

Angela Thompson has been appointed customer service manager of Central Pacific Bank’s Kailua branch. Thompson has more than 20 years of experience in cash handling, customer service, employee supervision and ATM operations. In her new position, she will oversee the branch’s service level, as well as achieve referral service and profitability goals. Thompson was previously with American Savings Bank and served as assistant branch manager. Prior, Thompson was teller manager at First Union Bank Corporation in New Jersey.
