The first thing people say when they see this car is “That’s the car from the movie Gone In 60 Seconds!” This is not an original Eleanor but a replica that has caught the eyes of many car experts since its resurrection from a regular fastback.

“My son, who goes to college in San Diego, saw this car for sale there and called me and sent me some pictures,” says Lum. “I wasn’t looking for a ’67, but I always liked the ’67s —  not so much the ’65s because they are a little smaller, and the ’70s are too big. But the ’67, ’68 and ’69 were the size I liked.”

The Mustang Shop in Tucson, Ariz., built this ride, which was owned by David Threshy and was featured in a popular car publication. Representatives from Unique Performance, who were the premier builders of Eleanor when they were in business, were quoted in the article saying this replica has the same level of workmanship or better than what Unique Performance used to put out.

“When you sit in the car you feel like you’ve just stepped back in time,” says Lum. “I don’t know what it is about the car, maybe it’s the dash — the way the instrument panels are designed with the chrome pieces. And when I drive down the road people have their cell phones out taking pictures of the car. So it’s great to see other people showing their appreciation.”

A car of this caliber isn’t easy to find, and Lum plans on keeping this in the family for a long time.
