Understanding A Changing World

Alice Inoue
Alice Inoue’s newest book is “A Loving Guide To These Shifting Times”

Oprah talks about it a lot. Author Eckhart Tolle wants to raise our awareness about it. And now Alice Inoue is alerting us to a new global consciousness. Call it what you like. A New Earth. The Great Shift. A Global Awakening.

It is heralded as the greatest transformation in human history. According to Inoue, this shift is propelling us to a new level of thinking, acting and being. Millions of individuals, organizations and corporations around the world are waking up and embracing a new outlook with an emphasis on their responsibility to contribute positively to our collective future.

Witness the deeds of Bill Gates, Richard Branson, Al Gore and even Brangelina (Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie). Each has taken on personal missions and contributed millions of dollars to improve the quality of life for citizens of our global village. If charity begins at home, it is no longer limited to domestic borders. In the global village of today, if a child in Africa is hungry, a family in America feels its pain.

That’s the big picture. What does it all have to do with us as individuals, and why is Inoue so passionate about all this stuff?

As an astrologer, feng shui expert and author, Inoue is always studying life forces. At age 44, she is wise beyond her years. Listening to her talk about the ancient arts of feng shui and astrology convinces you she’s light years ahead in understanding the dynamics of our universe.

It can be confusing and even obscure for many of us. But fear not. Inoue has two upcoming events to give us some clarity about it.

There’s a seminar Tuesday, July 15, at 7:30 p.m. at the Japanese Cultural Center. The program, “Awakening to These Shifting Times,” presents Inoue’s astrological and spiritual perspectives to open up a new understanding of what is going on within you, your thoughts and your life.

Then on Saturday, July 26, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Inoue and Kahu Fred Sterling will conduct a workshop at Macy’s Special Events Room, Ala Moana Center. The focus will be a “how-to” exploration of ways to create a life of peace and purpose.

Both events tie in to Inoue’s release of a book called A Loving Guide to These Shifting Times and newest DVD on Office Feng Shui.

“As we experience an awakening through unprecedented happenings - from cyclones and earthquakes to personal upheavals and changes - so many are looking for answers as to what is going on. As we collectively move into a future that has no reference to the past, I am coming forth to share an enlightening and empowering perspective,” Inoue says.

In the one-day workshop, Inoue and Kahu Sterling, spiritual leader and author, will discuss tools such as meditation and other self-empowering paths to one’s consciousness.

While recognizing that external forces often can’t be controlled, the presenters tap into the internal forces (self) that can be managed.

“My main purpose is to give people insight into themselves and their lives so that they can live each day with more peace of mind. I infuse people with optimism about their lives and empower and excite them about who they are,” Inoue says.

Inoue draws her insights from planetary influences (astrology), environmental factors (feng shui) and the spiritual realm (she’s an ordained minister and spiritual educator).

Inoue is living proof of someone who was inspired by inner guidance to make a bold shift in her life path. Born in San Francisco and raised in Taiwan, she attended the University of California, followed by four years in Japan before moving to Hawaii in 1989. She started out on a path in business but in an unexpected shift transitioned into the world of media, first as a live daily television show host followed by many years as a bilingual news anchor, spokesperson and host of her own Japanese TV show.

Soon after she began intensive training in feng shui and astrology, she developed a deep understanding of life cycles and timing, environmental space dynamics, and how spiritual wisdom helps people to understand their lives.

Her insightful and motivational presentations have taken her to major corporations where executives have sought her counsel to align business goals with positive forces.

In the case of feng shui, for instance, it’s all about creating harmony and balance in one’s work or home environment. We live in a world of energy, Inoue explains, and there are ways to channel those forces from counterproductive to productive waves. Often we create our own barriers to good energy flow by surrounding ourselves with stuff that works against us. Often these are items given to us by friends and family that we feel obligated to display.

“Honor the intent, then give it away or get rid of it,” Inoue asserts. “Have only what you love around you and what supports you.”

(Well, there goes that silly action-hero coffee mug given to me by my brother. I respect his thought and generosity, but Kikaida does nothing for me.)

Other practical feng shui tips from Inoue are: * Remove clutter. It creates stagnant energy. * Pay attention to pictures on your wall. Avoid images that denote desolation, emptiness, loneliness, turbulence and fatigue. * Make the entrance inviting. Make it a welcoming transition point.

These and other practical, easy-to-grasp life guides will be shared by Inoue at her upcoming seminar and workshop.

Perhaps it’s time to shake up our consciousness and get ourselves more focused and centered.
