Festivities around the island include parades and tree-lighting ceremonies leading up to Christmas Day. Windward celebrated an early festival Nov. 26, lighting up Kaneohe along with entertainment, food and crafts. Honolulu City Lights kicked off Dec. 3 with Mayor Peter Carlisle lighting the 50-foot City Christmas tree amidst an electric parade and the usual dazzling array of fun and entertainment. The excitement moved to Kapolei Dec. 10 for the annual Kapolei City Lights with a brilliant fireworks display topping off the action.
