The Hawaii Chinese Civic Association sponsored its annual Mandarin Ball Nov. 5 at Hawaii Prince Hotel. The event honored Dr. Tin Myaing Thein of Pacific Gateway, who helps immigrants start business enterprises. The ball’s primary function is to raise money for scholarships. It’s also an opportunity to celebrate the birthdays of residents of Palolo Chinese Home.
