The U.S. Marine Corps Remembrance at the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center set the stage for two special St. Patrick’s Day events. In the early morning, John Wiley won the 29th annual “Irish Sprint and Stride” and was awarded a Waterford Crystal pendant. The run was hosted by Col. J.R. Bates, USMC. That evening as the sun set, the 1942-themed “Irish Affair” was hosted by Patrick T. Brent, former Marine, at the visitor center.

Guest performers included “The Andrews Sisters” and “General George Patton Jr.” The Navy League and Armed Services YMCA were the beneficiaries of both events.
