Chaminade University of Honolulu hosted its 50th Anniversary Gala Celebration recently with a reception and dinner at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel. Celebrating 50 years of educating students for life, service and successful careers, Chaminade welcomed nearly 300 guests: from a bishop to the lieutenant governor and mayor, plus students and educators, grads, non-profit to corporate opinion makers, military brass, legislative leaders, as well as members of the Society of Mary, the religious order responsible for the institution’s founding. Chaminade president Sue Wesselkamper also announced the kickoff of the school’s $50 million capital campaign “Transformations: The Campaign for Chaminade University of Honolulu,” of which $25 million has already been raised to help fund a new library and resource center.
