Foodland Super Market recently held a ceremony at its Beretania store to donate $1.4 million to Hawaii’s non-profit organizations through Give Aloha, Foodland’s annual community matching gifts program. In addition, Jenai Wall and Darton Stradling of the Western Union Foundation presented a check for $63,155.15 to the American Red Cross Hawaii State Chapter to support the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

During the Give Aloha program in September, customers donated $1,139,551.29 at checkout to their favorite Hawaii non-profit organizations. Foodland and the Western Union Foundation contributed $302,111.81 to match their gifts. Give Aloha was created in 1999 in honor of Foodland founder Maurice J. Sullivan.
