Some 240 members and guests of the Hawaii Automobile Dealers Association (HADA), comprised of Hawaii’s franchised new car dealers, gathered at the J.W. Marriot Ihilani Resort and Spa pavilion recently to commemorate the 50th year of their trade association’s founding - formed by the signing of bylaws in 1959, Hawaii’s statehood year.

Billed as “A Golden Jubilee Dinner,” the evening featured a signature drink, the Pink Cadatini, at its reception and was emceed by ClearChannel deejays Hudson and Scotty B, who played car tunes from the ‘50s as arriving guests viewed a 1959 Ford Galaxie Skyliner provided by car enthusiast Gary Hanson, and a 1959 Porsche convertible owned by Rick Woltz - both guests of HADA for the evening.

Auto dealer Nick Cutter emceed the introduction of honorees - current or former members of the association who have been on dealership franchise agreements with automakers for 30 or more years. Gov. Linda Lingle, who was raised in a car-dealer family, gave the keynote address.
