The Hawaii Restaurant Association celebrated its 60th anniversary with a sold-out event at the Hawaii Prince Hotel recently.

The prestige celebration began with “Chefs of Aloha,” which included chefs Sam Choy, Fred DeAngelo, Peter Merriman, Nawai Kekoolani, Russell Siu, Khamton Tanchaleun and Alan Wong.

The evening continued with a “Hall of Fame” induction program, honoring legacy inductees Roy and Jane Asato, Charlie and Francis Higa, David Hill, Tosh Kaneshiro, the Nagamine Family, Dick Rodby, Arthur Salisbury, Albert Schmid, Spence Weaver and Andrew Wong.

Proceeds from the evening benefited the HRA’s culinary scholarship program, established in collaboration with the Culinary Institute of the Pacific.
