Sen. Daniel Akaka, Congressmen Neil Abercrombie and Ed Case joined the U.S. Postal Service in dedicating the Kapalama Post Office in honor of the late Hiram Fong.

Hosted by Postal Service District Manager Daryl Ishizaki, the event culminated in the unveiling of a plaque that will designate the postal building on North King Street as the “Hiram L. Fong Post Office Building.” Also featured was the unveiling of commemorative stamp art to Sen. Fong’s surviving children. Fong was one of Hawaii’s most beloved public servants and a strong advocate of statehood.
