The Navy League Honors Jerry Coffee
Del.icio.usThe Honolulu Council of the Navy League recently honored retired Navy Capt. Jerry Coffee with the League’s American Patriot Award as well as a medal from the Department of the Navy for Outstanding Civilian Service at the Hilton Hawaiian Village on Veteran’s Day.
Coffee was gunned down in 1966 in his RAC-5 reconnaissance jet by enemy fire while flying combat missions over North Vietnam. He spent the next seven years as a POW in communist prisons. Upon release, he continued his Naval career and retired after 28 years of service.
The Navy League is a non-profit organization aiming to educate others on the need for a strong sea service.
