Frosting For Any Occasion

This week on Sam Choy’s Kitchen, we head to manoa to visit cake creations co-owners Lani sonan and Lori Tamashiro, who elaborately decorate an ocean-themed cake.

Butter Cream Frosting

4 pounds powdered sugar
4 cups high-ration shortening (available at Cake Creations or Ed Sung)
1 cup water
4 teaspoons clear butter extract
4 teaspoons clear vanilla extract

Mix the shortening first to take out the lumps.

Add all the liquids. mix until smooth. slowly add powdered sugar.

Mix until smooth.

Store in a sealed container.

Does not need refrigerating.

Shelf life 3 months.
