Spring is nearly here, and if you haven’t already done so it’s time to update your wardrobe. Goodbye to the usual dark colors and heavy fabrics of fall and winter fashions. Hello to bright, happy colors along with comfortable silhouettes, such as the return of the long, flowing maxi dress.

According to Ken Downing, senior vice president and fashion director for Neiman Marcus, this season’s must-haves include:

* The color coral
* The white wardrobe - that’s zero color head-to-toe style
* Boho influences
* Flat sandals
* Florals
* Crossbody bags
* Stripes
* The spring face - sun-kissed bliss in shades of coral, peach and apricot
* Wide-leg pants
* Long necklaces - jewelry goes the distance with pretty beads, bold chains and oversized pendants.

Also, be sure to stop by Neiman Marcus at Ala Moana Center this week for a special Sogetsu Ikebana exhibition by Linda Hamasaki and her 43 students. More than 40 flower arrangements in the style of Japanese flower arranging will be on display throughout the store March 11 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., March 12 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and March 13 from noon to 4 p.m. The exhibit will showcase tropicals, using mostly local plant materials provided by Green Point Nurseries. For more information on any of the fashions featured here or on the Sogetsu Ikebana Exhibition, call 951-8887.
