Local girls Liz Lerner and Kai Cost (pictured below) have teamed up to open Guava Shop on the North Shore, a boutique featuring cute and affordable women’s clothing, products and accessories for a beach-minded, casually fashionable lifestyle.

The store opened its doors Oct. 15 at the Haleiwa Town Center, offering popular brands such as Indah, Splendid, C & C, Frankie B., La Made, Kai Fragrance, Frenzii, Bobi, Debbie Katz, Green Dragon, Fresh Laundry, Red Flower and Salt swimwear. The store also carries jewelry hand-created by Cost, under the Kaila label.

Cost, a former interior decorator, and Lerner, a former public relations and marketing director, were raised on the North Shore, graduated from Kahuku High School (Cost in 1995 and Lerner in 1997) and later found themselves working in Honolulu until they decided to quit their jobs and open this store which is much closer to home.

“We knew that there was a niche, that something like this was missing on the North Shore,” explains Lerner. “It’s growing out here with both people who live here and tourists. We knew if we didn’t do this, somebody else would.”

Guava Shop is located at 65-165 Kamehameha Highway, across from Kua Aina sandwich shop. For more information, call 637-9670.
