Jodi Salmonson has been making her own clothes since the fourth grade. Now, the Kailua resident celebrates the one-year anniversary of her clothing line Kari Jane, which she describes as a sunny adaptation of lovable cotton prints.
“I really believe in a boutique culture,” says Salmonson. “So, I make limited edition pieces and clothing that is unique and loved. Pieces that are your favorite things in your closet.”
Salmonson, who has lived in Hawaii for the past 13 years, is a graduate of the apparel product design and merchandising program at the University of Hawaii. Her collection consists of mostly dresses, tops and skirts in novelty prints and bright colors. On Oahu, Kari Jane can be found at Global Village in Kailua, Valerie Joseph in McCully, and at the Women’s Closet at the O Lounge on July 30.
