This Mother’s Day (May 13), don’t forget to thank Mom for all the wonderful things she does, as well as the many sacrifices she makes.

You may not remember, but she most likely does — her nine months of pregnancy and hours of exhausting labor. It’s an emotional ride from start to finish, but moms will say that it’s all worth it. To help expectant and new moms with the transition, Makana Mother & Baby offers a wide selection of maternity and nursing wear and accessories, postpartum products, infant items and more.

“Expectant women should embrace this special time and be proud to show their changing bodies by dressing well without sacrificing style,” says Cathy Yamamoto, owner of Makana Mother & Baby, a maternity and infant boutique in Kahala. “Pregnant celebrities are great examples of this.” Yamamoto says some of the popular items for moms today include Bravado and Japanese Weekend bras, Glamourmom nursing tanks, the My Best Friend nursing pillow, Peanut Shell and Zolowear slings, and the Bella Band, which is used to hide the waistband of regular pants that can no longer button up due to a growing belly.

Makana Mother & Baby is located at 4819 Kilauea Ave., Suite 5 (mauka of Kahala Mall, around the corner from Umeke Market). For more information, call 734-2323 or visit www.makanamotherandbaby. com

Happy Mother’s Day to all moms — young, old and soon-to-be!
