Pualani Hawaii releases its 2008 collection this month with new prints that blend aloha and vintage with contemporary.
In business since 2002, the swimsuit company founded by local girl Iwalani Isbell is known for its flattering fit, comfortable fabric and functional style. The suits are made of four-way stretch European fabrics, soft lingerie lining which never stretches or peeks out, and premium quality elastic to keep your suit from riding up.
Isbell, a big wave surfer and water sport stuntwoman, researches and tests every design herself. “I’‘ve created styles that are comfortable and stay in place,” she says.
Pualani’s flagship store, Pualani Honolulu, opened recently at the New OtaniKaimana Beach Hotel (2863 Kalakaua Ave.) between Waikiki and Diamond Head. Isbell says she is looking into opening stores in other locations globally, as well as expanding the Pualani line to include more lifestyle products, including bags, towels, more fitness apparel and skin care products.
Pualani Hawaii can be found in more than 100 stores worldwide, including Barnfields Raging Isle Surf on the North Shore, Lanikai Beachwear in Lanikai and Wet Feet in Aina Haina.
