A great clothing boutique is like a trip to the supermarket. You just can’t leave without buying more than what you came for.

The Butik, which opened last month on Kapiolani Boulevard, is that supermarket for any girl who loves dresses and more.

“We wanted to have dresses that can be worn from the beach to evening,” says Lan Chung, who co-owns the store with friend Landy Cheung, both 1991 graduates of McKinley High School. “That’s what our customers want. And we have a mix of designer goods and downtown fashion.”

The store carries clothing, bikinis, jewelry, handbags and accessories. Brands include Alice & Trixie, Michelle Jonas, Mara Hoffman, Lani, Miss Me and Who Cares, as well as Fighting Eel, the popular label Chung co-founded with friend Rona Bennett.

“The majority of the items in the store are dresses,” says Cheung, who has been friends with Chung since their elementary school days at Jefferson. “The dresses we have are comfortable and fun. And you can dress it up and dress it down.”

The Butik is located at 1067 Kapiolani Blvd. (across from McKinley High). Free parking is available in the open lot behind the building. Store hours are Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.

An after-Christmas sale is scheduled for Dec. 26 through Jan. 1 with 30 to 50 percent off selected styles. For more information, call 593-4484.
