‘Umeke Market Natural Foods & Deli has expanded its business to include earth-friendly fashions that are not only good for the environment, but good for you too.

“Organic clothes are not sprayed with pesticides and chemicals, so it is cleaner for the environment and better for your body,” explains Debbie Yamaguchi, who co-owns ‘Umeke Market with Daryl and Michelle Yamaguchi. “Your skin absorbs what’s next to it. It is said it takes 300 washes to clean out all the chemicals in non-organic cotton clothing.”

Brands include Of the Earth Brand Organic Cotton, Hemp, Twice Shy Organic Cotton, Spun Bamboo and Fig Baby Line.

The store also carries a wide selection of “healthy” personal care items (lotions, makeup, shampoo), produce (local and organic), supplements, refrigerated and frozen groceries (buffalo, ostrich, organic beef, venison, elk, organic chicken) and deli.

“For those who haven’t been to ‘Umeke Market, you would be pleasantly surprised by what this locally owned market has to offer,” adds Debbie. “Besides the vast array of products, more overwhelming is the enthusiastic staff that’s willing to always be of service.”

‘Umeke Market Natural Foods & Deli is located at 4400 Kalanianaole Highway, near Kahala Mall. For more information, call 739-2990.
