Some of the most talented high school students from across the state will be meeting at Waikiki Shell Saturday, April 5, for the 2008 Brown Bags 2 Stardom, “Battle of the Bands” finale.

The top finalists from the televised OC16 competition taking the stage are Evelyn Obamos of Campbell High; Makana Sons of Kapolei, and Ryde or Die Movement of Kapolei High; Mystical Rhythm, Laurissa Asuega, Da Ara Gurlz, SPR (Searider Production Records) and Alika Kea of Waianae High; Boyz of a Heartache of Nanakuli High; Kekoa Kane of Castle High; Knotty Love of Kahuku High; Kalani Koa and Kaimana Morris of Kamehameha-Kapalama; Genevieve Wollenbacker of Punahou High; Tiffany Ganotisi, Catherine Rose Trono and K3n of Farrington High; Neva 2 Young of Honokaa High; TIA of Maui High; Ross Jerome Lazaro of Lahainaluna, and Simply Solid of Hana High.

These talented singers and musicians received the highest number of votes by viewers and have earned the opportunity to take their musical abilities to the stage for a live performance at one of Hawaii’s greatest musical venues, Waikiki Shell.

“We have it at the Shell because of the kids,” says Johnny Kai, executive director of Music Foundation of Hawaii. “They just want to play music, and to play on a stage like the Shell gets the kids all excited, and the experience and memories we want them to remember of their association with Brown Bags.”

This ultimate high school talent competition begins at 5 p.m. and continues through 9:30 p.m., when a champion will be crowned.
