Jason Silva

aka DJ Quiksilva

Hometown: Downtown, San Diego Calif., ‘619’

How did you get into DJing?

Actually, DJing found me. I was more of a party/events promoter when I started. The DJ thing happened when we could-n’t find a proper DJ for our parties we were throwing. So, I bought a bunch of music and turntables, which turned out to be the best thing I have ever done in my life.

What has been your biggest music accomplishment?

Working with the record label We Are One Records. And recording and producing their album ONE WAY by I.O.S.

Where can you be spotted gigging throughout the week?

On Oahu: Wednesdays at ‘80s ACID WASH at NextDoor and periodically Fridays at GetFresh at Indigo. You can always catch me popping up at a few other hit clubs in Waikiki randomly.

What are your top three favorite CDs right now?

Old School Jams Volume 2 Mixed by DJ QUIKSILVA, EMOTIONS Mixed by DJ QUIKSILVA and Hed Kandi Mix Compilation from Cafe Del Mar.

Who is your musical inspiration?

For me most of my inspiration comes from many people throughout my life who have shared their own taste of music that helps inspire me.

What are your goals musically?

Influencing good times and to share myself with everyone through music and entertainment to its fullest, making memories that will last forever.

What do you think makes Hawaii’s music scene unique?

The local music is what makes Hawaii so unique. It’s a combination of island sounds that the modern, local Hawaiian artists have created that comes with very loyal local support.
