Walt G. and China will do it Kawao style when they take over Ige’s Restaurant & 19th Puka tomorrow (Dec. 13) for their Kawao Christmas Concert that will have even Santa skankin’.

The guys are sharing the stage with a few close friends: Koauka, 10 Feet, Pohaku, Typical Youth, Konfrontation and Cease Fiyah.

It all happens at 8 p.m. and everyone 21 and over is invited to come - if not for the music and the great food, then to help support the Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii Nanakuli Clubhouse, as part of the proceeds will be donated to the organization.

“We decide to do this concert because we really wanted to share our Christmas spirit with everyone on the island as well as to build funds for the Nanakuli Boys and Girls Club, which happens to be right in our community,” says Walt G. “They are in need of supplies for their afternoon programs, which help to support our children’s after-school academics and extra-curricular activities.”

For each ticket sold, $3 will go toward the Nanakuli Clubhouse. Presale tickets are $15, and $20 at the door. For tickets or more information, call 486-3500.

“I chose the Nanakuli site because their site is functioning with limited resources,” says Walt. G. “They continue to service our community’s children with just a portable without air conditioning. Can you imagine what a portable feels like in the Waianae heat? So we wanted to find a way to somehow raise some money to help the children feel a little more comfortable.”

To share their thanks, Kawao will give out a Christmas gift to everyone who attends. And one lucky attendee also will receive a KoAloha ukulele before the night is over, which Walt G. anticipates won’t be until about 1:30 a.m.

‘Tis the season to be jolly!
