Aka: Mo$

Hometown: I am from Oakland, Calif. My CEO partner, Shelby Wair, is from Hilo.

Music profession: CEO of TownLife Records.

What’s happening? TownLife just released a CD titled TownLife Records Presents Bosses Of The Mic. It features artists such as Samoan Dynasty, P.M.O. of Soljah Boi Records, C-Gutta, myself and more. The CD has 11 artists and 19 songs on it. Bosses Of The Mic is an eye-opener to anybody who’s been sleeping on Hawaii’s talent.

How did you get your start in music? I first got into music in the ‘80s at school where my friends would freestyle. Being a class clown in school, I soon discovered that I had a knack for speaking my mind with music. By the mid-‘90s, I was just like any other unknown artist, full of talent, unsigned and feeling like everybody and their daddy was getting signed except me. It was that feeling of frustration that encouraged me to not give up but get even. If I owned my own record label I could sign myself as an artist as well as give people in my shoes a chance to display what they had to offer. December 2006, my vision became a reality with the help of my best friend Shelby Wair.

Together we formed TownLife Records. We signed our first group HI TRIBE shortly after the label was created. Shelby has always wanted to be involved in music ever since I can remember. She’s the only female I know who feels about music the way I do.

Upcoming projects? Our future album to look for is HI Tribe’s album titled HI TRIBE SOUNDS OF H.I.
