Aka: Ry Ry

Hometown: Aiea

High school:National Guard Academy

Music occupation: Recording artist/song-writer

How did you get into the music business?

Since I was young I’ve always expressed that I was going to be a performer. I began pursuing my career seriously in 1997. I was a student at the Performing Artist Academy, where I had vocal, dance and acting lessons. I was also managed by William Daquioag, who used to promote us out in the public along with Jasmine Trias. I even modeled at Vogue International Talent Agency and took piano lessons, all to prepare myself for hopefully a successful music career.

Who or what inspires your music?

A lot inspires my music. I’ve been through a lot in my life and really didn’t want to express it through my music, but I learned that actual real life experiences were my best material. So I’m slowly expressing what’s actually appropriate for now.

Musical accomplishments?

Being one of the top five finalists for season one Famecast competition. Also being the overall winner for the best artist promotion. And making my New Year’s resolution a reality - getting my CD done and get it out everywhere. I wrote all the tracks for my first CD, and I’m very proud of it. Oh, and catching Mainland and international attention that is expressing interest in me.

Any ongoing or upcoming gigs?

I’ve had a busy schedule this year, performing everywhere here in Hawaii as well as performing on the Mainland. All my next gigs are for next year, though I’ve got a Christmas promotion tour in December that we’re actually planning. So look out for that. I’m also back at season three Famecast and I’m determined to win. So you can vote for me at Famecast.com in the singer/songwriter category. I’ve also just finished my track for the compilation CD for radio, which will be promoted in Europe, Canada, Japan and the U.S.

How would you describe your music?

My first album, This Is Me The Demo Project, is more songs that were in the international style and sound, but the next CD I’m working on, it’s gonna be me, the real me. Life experiences and all, it will be good R&B, pop, dance, funky and original sound.
