SPOTTED! Funny couple Jenny McCarthy and Jim Carrey. The three-year couple is very much in love. They strolled the beach hugging and kissing as Jenny rocked her bright-orange bikini! No wonder Carrey couldn’t keep his hands to himself!
Fun Fact: Jenny recently has been reported saying she loves Carrey because of “his capacity to love and take on something that most men would run away from.”
Congratulations to one of HPD’s finest, Officer Ernest “Mongo” Chang, who will be the first super-heavyweight Asian to enter the 2009 USA competition. Mongo is 5 foot 9 and currently 280 pounds. Fun fact: Mongo once competed in the Hawaii Strongest Man contest and walked away with best poser award.
Production heads around town are buzzing about Gloria Estefan concert this Saturday night at Blaisdell Arena with top-of-theline sound, lights and video. It is sure to be a truly world-class event!

The American Lung Association of Hawaii presents The Breathe Concert Jan. 31 at Hawaii Theatre. Performing live will be Lea Woods Friedman, Amy Hanaialii, George Kuo,Aaron Mahi, Sonya Mendez, Kanoe Miller, Sean Naauao, Martin Pahinui, Roy Sakuma and star students of the Roy Sakuma Studio; Jake Shimabukuro, Mihana Souza and Leon Williams.

This week in 1993: The Reunion Game of the UH “Fabulous Five” basketball team takes place at Blaisdell Arena. Red Rocha returns to coach this game as the “Fabulous Five,” led by Dwight Holiday with 29 points, defeats the Hawaii All Stars by a score of 72 to 59. It’s been 21 years since Dwight, Bob Nash, Al Davis, Jerome Freeman and John Penebacker played together.
The No. 1 record in 1993 is I Will Always Love You by Whitney Houston. (It’s No. 1 from early December until well into February!)
