Wow, what a party - MidWeek‘s 25th anniversary at the Pacific Club. A who’s who guest list enjoyed music from Maunalua, followed by Jimmy Borges and Ginai backed by Steve Jones, Jeff Peterson and Von Baron, followed by Ciana Pelekai, and then C&K! All MC’d by Al Waterson. Fabulous food, too, from Sam Choy, DK Kodama, Elmer Guzman, Russell Siu and Ruth’s Chris!

Highlights include Hahn Lee defeating Friday Allman, Pedro Morales and Kenji Shibuya wrestling to a draw, and tag team-ers “Handsome” Johnny Barend and Billy Robinson defeating Eduord Carpenter and Jack Armstrong. The title event pits heavyweight champ Ripper Collins against Sam Steamboat in a steel cage match, but Collins’ compadre, Allman, trying to spray a green mist into Steamboat’s eyes, misses and hits the champ in the face instead! Unable to see, Collins loses, and the championship belt goes to Steamboat ... The No. 1 record in Hawaii is Close To You by The Carpenters...
