RON JACOBS’ BEST SELLER Obamaland was featured recently on ABC News’ Nightline. Jacobs debated a “birther” who claims that President Barack Obama is not an American citizen, while viewers offered real-time comments via Twitter. Citing various documents reproduced in Obamaland, RJ easily proved that Obama was born here at Kapiolani Maternity Hospital. Anchor Vicki Mabry called it “our most successful online show to date.” The complete half-hour can be seen via pod-cast at the Nightline Web site ...

True Blood star Mehcad Brooks, who plays Eggs in the series, participated in the “Tag the World” celebrity triathlon on the Big Island. The charity raises awareness and funds for children in foster care in Hawaii. Other celebrities included James Franco, Pauly Shore, Rebecca Maderand and Ryan Eggold, Kyle Lowder, Darin Brooks, Drew Lachey, Jeremy Jackson, Clayne Crawford, women’s soccer star Mia Hamm and supermodel Amber Valletta ...

The Cheesesteak King, Tony Luke Jr., has co-written and stars in a new film, The Nail, with William Forsythe, Tony Danza, Leo Rossi and Dayanara Torres. On DVD and in stores Sept. 8. Read all about it at http://www.mtivideo.com ...

This week in 1977: Ron Jacobs and I host A Blast From The Past at Blaisdell Arena starring Teddy Randazzo, Jimmy Clanton, Lance Curtis and the Uniques, Ronnie Diamond and The Royal Drifters. Sunbums reviews it: “A video tribute to Elvis Presley, who had passed away the month before, was shown on a large overhead movie screen that was placed above the stage. Lance Curtis, aka Dick Jensen, made his entrance on a motorcycle! More than 5,000 fans turn out for this fun event which also includes a dance contest and a best-dressed couple contest.”

Interesting Note: Sept. 3, 1977, was Ron Jacobs’ birthday, and he was presented with a birthday cake on stage by Dick Jensen. In keeping with Ron’s image as a villain, after singing a round of Happy Birthday, Dick threw the cake in Ron’s face! Even Ron joined in as we all laughed about it backstage after the show.

The No. 1 record is The Best Of My Love by the Emotions ...
