HAVE YOU SEEN ELVIS? - I predict that fans from all over the world will come to see Elvis, the 1,200-pound bronze life-size statue unveiled last Thursday outside Blaisdell Arena. It was déjà vu - like being back at the old Honolulu Stadium when I introduced Elvis for his first Hawaii concert in November of 1957. I was honored to speak, along with TV Land president Larry Jones and Mayor Mufi Hannemann. I finished my talk quoting good friend Al Dvorin, who spoke those famous words at the end of every Elvis concert ... Al would have said, “Ladies and gentleman, Elvis has returned to the building!” Congratulations to TV Land, it was first class all way ...

One of many local celebrities in attendance at the Elvis unveiling was Marlene Sai - outstanding as Bloody Mary in South Pacific that opened last weekend at the Blaisdell Concert Hall ...

After the unveiling, I went to wish Blaisdell director Sidney Quintal a wonderful birthday. In an off-the-cuff surprise, I told him a had a singing telegram - at which point Marlene Sai walked in and sang Happy Birthday! ...
