But from May 8 to 10 he will represent the USA at the Pan American Judo Championships, and at the Olympic Zone Cup May 11 - both in Miami. His goal: the 2008 US Olympic Judo Team. To help him get there, head for Pipeline Cafe from 5 to 10 p.m. Sunday and plunk down your $15 ($10 presale) for music, pupus and auctions (845-3113). Just as fun, Kahaluu’s Erwin Hudelist, president of Hagadone Printing Co., co-leads a business sustainability seminar for the Hawaii Publishers Association at 11:30 a.m. May 7 at Natsunoya Tea House. Many thanks to Ahuimanu neighbors J.N. Musto and his wife Linda. They found, fed and tattled on our wandering mutt, Max, age 14, who thought he had embarked on a grand adventure by slipping out of the yard last Monday night. After a tense two-hour search, I actually called the humane society, and they linked me up with the Mustos, who live two blocks away. Some adventure, huh, Maxie? ...

Speaking of dogs, a month ago we were stranded in Las Vegas with useless return tickets on ATA. Making the most of our extra time there, we went to a Clark County dog park with our daughter Erin and her tiny Maltese pooch, Pono. He had a fine time, and all the dogs played well together. Some humans, however, couldn’t figure out how to get along. In the parking lot we witnessed two macho guys ramming each other head-on with their SUVs, then fuming off in a cloud of desert dust ... The Honolulu Police Community Foundation invites students to apply by April 30 for its college scholarships. Former HPD chief Lee Donohue chairs the group (942-1400)
