Olomana resident Elizabeth Roth went to lunch at Tripler hospital on May 2, not realizing she was the guest of honor. She says she felt like a “queen for a day” as the big wigs celebrated the famous pink hospital’s 60th year. You see, Elizabeth, 83, is the widow of Albert Henry Roth, who oversaw the safe completion of the “new” Tripler Army Medical Center in 1948. She took time off from her busy golf week to speak to the group, sharing memories of the building site - including the tragic accident when a Japanese POW fell down an open elevator shaft to his death while doing custodial work. The Kailua grandma, meanwhile, enjoys robust health and scored her second hole-inone recently at BayView Golf Park ...
