The Army gave the 2011 Nainoa Hoe Scholarship of Honor to James Mahoney during Aug. 22 ceremonies at the Battle Command Training Center at Schofield Barracks. The center is named after 1st Lt. Hoe, a Kailua soldier who was killed in action in Iraq in 2005. James will attend UH Manoa and its Army ROTC program.
