Already an extraordinary gymnast, Kaneohe’s Jenna Frowein is now Hawaii’s Distinguished Young Woman for 2012 (formerly Junior Miss), winning a $4,000 cash scholarship, a trip to the national competition in Mobile, Ala., a four-year scholarship to HPU and $2,000 more in prizes. The Stanford-bound Punahou senior’s second runner-up is Carissa Kano, also of Kaneohe, who won a $2,000 scholarship plus $1,250 more.

Carissa is hoping to go to Harvard next fall ... A longtime supporter of Habilitat, businessman and jeweler Bruce Bucky gave the Kaneohe rehab facility $5,000 this year, which enabled the group to bring 75 Christmas trees here and present them to families last weekend at Kamehameha Homes ...
