Whipped, Again

It has finally occurred to me that I am probably the most unlucky man in the universe. Not in the sense of my family, friends, job and life in general. In those cases, I am the luckiest man alive.

No, I’m talking about everyday stuff that happens to me, which I find uncannily unlucky.

Every once in a while, I like to treat my coworkers and will get some kind of food or snack for everyone to enjoy. Sometimes it’s pizza, donuts or manapua. The last time I bought everyone French fries. I pay for it out of my own pocket, which everyone seems to appreciate even more.

The other week it was a pretty hot day, so I decided to make a Starbucks run and buy a bunch of us Frappachinos. It was a total of ten drinks and naturally, each individual wanted their own specialty order. I actually memorized the order which is pretty amazing, if I say so myself.

Some decaf, some with caramel drizzle and some lite. They all had whipped cream on them so they were capped off with the plastic domes with the hole for the straw at the top. I asked for two carrying trays, and the leftover two drinks I placed in the cup holder in my truck.

I put the trays on the bench seat next to me. As I drove back to the office, as luck would have it, I was right behind a car that felt they didn’t have to signal when they made an abrupt turn into a driveway. I slammed on my brakes and watched as the two trays launched from the seat.

The cups hit the dashboard sideways, causing their contents to erupt through the holes at the top like little volcanoes. Needless to say, it was a mess and naturally I went back to Starbucks to buy replacements. I threw out the empty cups and figured I’d hose out my truck when I got home.

That evening as I left work, I saw one of our employees who catches the bus and asked if he wanted a ride to the bus stop. As soon as he got in my truck, he exclaimed, “Wow, your floor is all sticky!” I looked at him innocently and said, “Yeah, that’s from all the whipped cream.”

I guess he decided that the bus stop wasn’t that far away and he got out of my truck. What I couldn’t figure out was why he ran all the way to the bus stop.

Dennis and Hedy Muth submitted a site for what used to be Kailua’s Paradise Foods Low Carb & Low Sugar Market. Looks like they’re now operating online:

I think whipped cream is lowcarb. Anyway, send your favorite websites to me at: .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)
