“I love my parents, but I don’t have the time to look after them.”

Baby boomers are turning 60 at a rapid rate and now they’re faced with the dilemma of looking after their ageing parents and helping their children, who may be starting families of their own. This is a serious problem and one that can create a lot of stress and guilt if it is not properly addressed.

We love our parents and we want to do the right thing for them. They looked after us and now we want to help them enjoy their golden years. If they have made their wishes known that they don’t want to go to a “nursing home” that makes it even more difficult. Now, there’s an alternative to the nursing home option and that’s to provide professional care for your loved ones right in the comfort of their own home. What could be better than “care at home?”

Sometimes families try to do this themselves, but the path is a rocky one. If you organize amongst your siblings to look after your parents , sometimes it works well and other times some family members are not as forthcoming as others and resentment builds and can actually tear families apart. Siblings who live closer are expected to do more and those further away feel guilty. Sometimes neighbors and friends are enlisted for a fee, but this can lead to difficulty because these people are not professionals. They may not always show up when they’re scheduled. They may call at the last minute to cancel. Their own priorities may supersede your family’s needs. They may be more interested in what’s going on in your family home and no one wants to be the subject matter for gossip.

There is another alternative - one that is simple, cost effective and only a phone call away. Mastercare is available to you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Why not employ the services of a professional home care service? Mastercare is a locally owned and operated company that has a proven long term track record of serving and satisfying families.
