Umeke Market is offering creative gift ideas for the holidays, including healthy cooking classes with Chef Michelle Yamaguchi.

Healthy, creative, thoughtful holiday gift ideas

I think we all have mixed feelings about the holidays this year. Stress is high and money is tight.

Even here at ‘Umeke Market we’re trying to find our balance. Yes, we’ll all give gifts, but we’ll give more thoughtfully and with more consideration.

And that’s a good thing.

At ‘Umeke Market, we put a lot of thought into our gift ideas. And we hope you’ll agree they’re unique, thoughtful and healthy.

For example, when you give someone an ‘Umeke Market gift card of $75 or more, we’ll include a 20-minute consult coupon for them in the New Year. Whether it’s nutritional advice, sleep issues, stress related, gout, high blood pressure, weight loss, PMS or menopause related, a detox plan or simply a desire to get healthier, we have a lot to offer. And there are wonderful, healthy alternatives to managing your health.

How about a healthy cooking class as a gift? To all those of you who’ve asked that ‘Umeke Market offer cooking classes, we heard you!!! Beginning in January, we’ll host monthly cooking classes. Topics include: cooking with Whole Grains, Easy Soups, Beans & Bean Salads, Healthy Substitutes (i.e. we don’t use shoyu) and Healthier Baked Goods.

Other ‘Umeke Market gifts include environmentally friendly items. You’ll love our colorful stainless steel water bottles - for adults and children!! The message is: be healthy, drink water, but care for the environment. No more plastic bottles: Not good for people. Not good for the environment.

We also have beautiful Organic clothing, made from Organic Hemp, Cotton and Bamboo. You won’t believe how soft Organic Bamboo is!! It’s great for people with sensitive skin. In California, it is estimated that more than 2 pounds of chemical fertilizers and pesticides are used for every acre of non-organic cotton.

We also have a lot of cool, locally made items, including Malie Kai Chocolates, Honey Girl Organics skin care products, and soap from The Indigenous Soap Co., and Honolulu Soap Co.

And our Deli is taking orders for organic baked goods: Ginger or Cranberry/Orange oatcakes, homemade Ginger/Cashew granola & cookies: Rosemary or Earl Grey Butter Cookies. All are packaged and ready to gift.

So, come in for a cup of hot apple cider and give thoughtful consideration to what you’ll be giving this year!! Make your list, check it twice and feel free to ask us for help.
