There are motivators who work with businesses to boost their bottom line. There are those who inspire athletes to run faster and score more. And then there’s Allan Silva. He motivates Hawaii’s kids for life.
Every day, Silva is out somewhere in town, delivering his messages of aloha, courage and self-respect. For the last 18 years, the former basketball standout has applied all 6-foot-7-inches of himself to his mission to make a difference.

All told, he reaches about 50,000 students every year.
“He’s definitely one of Hawaii’s heroes,” says United States District Attorney Ed Kubo, who often sees Silva on the doing-good-things-for-kids circuit.
