The eight ethnic groups represented at Hawaii’s Plantation Village introduced more than 200 visitors to a “celebration of rice” on Jan. 6. “The plantation workers all had rice in common,” said program developer JoAnn Fakler. “So, each group put out a rice dish that would have been served during the new year.”
