Residents and former students of Central Oahu schools continue to join the military service and achieve success in training and combat duties. Below is a partial listing of recent news about local servicemembers.

COMMISSIONS
Samantha Cody of Mililani has graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, receiving a BS degree and her commission as a second lieutenant. She will be a communications officer ... Another USAF academy graduate, Mililani’s Kelly Morgan, is scheduled for undergraduate pilot training at Laughlin AFB, Texas.

BASIC TRAINING
Dennis Gaxiola (Wahiawa Community School ‘04) has graduated from basic Air Force Reserve training at Lackland AFB, Texas, as has Mililani’s Kaina Navares and Shane Costa (Leilehua ‘04) ... Kevin Ishikawa (Mililani ‘01) has completed Air National Guard basic training at Lackland AFB ... Gary Omalza (Leilehua ‘06) and Rena Blair (Mililani ‘05) have completed Air Force basic training, also at Lackland AFB.
