Da Hui and Wolfpak members invite everyone to take part in their ambitious pro-environmental event - to clean up all beaches and beach park areas from Velzyland to Lanikea on the North Shore, starting at 9 a.m. Saturday.
The cleanup, called “Button’s Hawaii second annual Da Hui/Wolfpak North Shore Beach Clean Up & Winter Kick Off Party,” was founded to extend aloha for the ocean and the community that surrounds it.
Pro surfers and volunteers will attack more than 15 popular surf spots and beach parks.A party will follow with food, non-alcoholic beverages, live Hawaiian music and prizes for the keiki.
Last year’s cleanup attracted 300 volunteers, and they hope to top that number this time. The 2005 crew included Makua Rothman, Bruce and Andy Irons, Jamie O’Brian, Kamalei Alexander, Kala Alexander, Myles Padaca and many more.
One to two surfers will be assigned per section, giving kids and teens the opportunity to hang out with their favorite surfers.
Meet at 8:30 a.m. at Velzyland Park for instructions. For more information, call 368-7749.
