Explosive 4th Of July In Central

Two North Shore venues plan activities and fireworks for Independence Day.

* Schofield Barracks hosts its 4th of July Spectacular from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sills Field for military and the public, with an adult 5K race at 9 a.m. and children’s 1-mile Fun Run at 10. The day has nonstop activities, games, food, prizes, crafts, pony and midway rides. The 25th Infantry Division Lightning Jazz Project plays at 1 p.m., Attitude at 2, Show of Force at 3, Delayed Resistance at 3:45 and Smash Mouth at 5:25 p.m.


 

The fireworks go off at 8:30 p.m. in the commissary parking lot after the infantry band plays the 1812 Overture and a patriotic concert at 7:30. For race details, call 655-9650; for general details, call 655-0111.

* Turtle Bay Resort opens its gates at 5:30 p.m. near the stables with food and activities on the West Lawn and entertainment by the Ka’ala Boys and De Lima Ohana from 6 to 8 p.m.
